Robotics & Intelligent Systems Laboratory – RiS-Lab
The Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab (RiS-Lab) was initially established in August 2018. It was re-established in 2020, as one of the three research and development laboratories of the Department of Computer, Informatics and Telecommunication Engineering, International Hellenic University, Serres campus. RiS-Lab is mainly active in the development of new industrial and educational robots and in the design and implementation of new embedded control systems and custom electronics boards. Also, it specializes in the development of machine intelligence for pattern recognition, robot localization, and mapping, as well as for the solution of various optimization problems. A lot of work has been devoted in the design of new accelerators for machine vision. Recently, RiS-Lab has been involved in the integration of robot systems based on Robot Operating System. The ability of RiS-Lab to work with HW/SW co-design offers flexibility in the development of new solutions for the industry and the academia. The staff of RiS-Lab consists of academics specializing in artificial intelligence, embedded systems and robotics. It is also supported by post-graduate students from the MSc Program in Robotics as well as by PhD students.
